Actalent Process Engineer in Zeeland, Michigan
Description:
Process Engineer for a company that specializes in inspection of parts ranging from cold roll steel, aluminum, copper, plastic, rubber, etc. Have roughly 40 different work stations that this person will be responsible for setting up, troubleshooting & programming. Some are manually operated and others are fully automated. Parts they inspect are typically small parts somewhere between 4-5 inches in Diameter. Ex: Airbag, fuel systems, nut & bolts, etc.
o Attend daily production meetings
o Plan Day based on priority business - Will have decision making power based on schedules and what parts are in house, has a scheduler that gives direction but having ability to understand what machines are capable of doing and what parts in house would help determine priority work.
o On machine working and interacting with operators, asking for feedback.
o 20 % of computer time will be verifying programs, creating programs and operating within Microsoft Suite Package (Especially Excel)
o Being able to understand what equipment looks like and what equipment needs to be used to get up right inspection process.
o Follow instructions on machine set up – what equipment should be used. Not only read instructions but creation of machine work instructions.
o Need to be able to set up machines. Not heavy equipment. Standard wrenches & screw drivers. Light duty. Machine set up per part. May include adding additional equipment
o Troubleshooting – machine & equipment – based on issues that came up in off shifts.
Must Have Qualifications
Process engineering experience 2+ years (will consider co-op & internship)
Process design - problem solving, continuous improvement & machine set up
Vision system experience - Keyence or Cognex
Blue reading
Bachelor's degree in Engineering OR 3-5 years experience
Work Environment
80% on manufacturing floor. 20% behind desk. 40-45 hours on average. 7am-4pm standard hours. work alongside 8 other engineers in department.
