General Summary
The start date for this position is July 28, 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to arrive on campus and move into their assigned hall July 25 - 27, 2025. Candidates should be currently admitted to a graduate program at Eastern Michigan University.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the Housing Services Manager, the Graduate Assistant(s) for Housing Services will primarily focus on behind-the-scenes departmental functions including operations/logistics, facilities, and key management.
- Logistic functions include opening and closing protocols, managing duty supplies, helping oversee front desk operations within our halls, and maintaining departmental equipment and contracts.
- Facilities functions include reviewing maintenance issues, tracking monthly fire drills, communicating with students, and community front desk walk-thru.
- This role supervises an undergraduate Office Manager who assists in supervising the administrative office front desk.
- Key management functions include providing access, record keeping, and developing key tracking protocols.
- The G.A.s in this role will have partnerships with Gilbane staff, physical plant staff, Environmental Health and Safety Staff, Parking, and EMU Police.
- The Graduate Assistant(s) for Housing Services will also participate in the on-call duty rotation, other departmental duties, and annual programs which may include, but are not limited to, training, recruitment and selection, and other departmental initiatives and committees.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree is required.
- Applicants must be a full-time, degree-admitted graduate student at Eastern Michigan University enrolled in the Higher Education and Student Affairs, Management/Administration and related programs (Business Admin, Human Resource Management, Public Admin, Hotel and Restaurant Management) or a relatable major associated with the position is preferred.
- The successful candidate must be available for the position for the full academic year.
Special Instructions:
STIPEND & BENEFITS Stipend includes a tuition waiver for nine credit hours for both the fall and winter semesters, and an $8,000 academic year stipend. A furnished apartment or suite, meal plan during the term of employment. Summer employment & housing may also be available.
