Long Description

Southwire seeks a Senior Operations (Cost) Accountant to drive financial results, performance analysis, and timely month-end closing/reporting for the Engineered Solutions Business Unit (BU). This position is based in our Youngsville, NC (Raleigh area) manufacturing facility and reports to the Controller. The Senior Accountant will ensure that all financial and accounting policies are consistently and accurately implemented and reported with adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). In addition, this position will have a strong emphasis on cost accounting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Product Costing: Monitor product costing, review, and analyze cost variances.

• Inventory Analysis: Support cycle counting and quarterly physical inventory count processes.

• Month-End Close: Participate in the monthly closing process and ensure all assigned Account Reconciliations are completed on a timely basis

• Capital Expenditures: Monitor capital projects to ensure that they are completed and put into service on time. Support business case development for new projects.

• Annual Budget: Partner with all levels of operations personnel and various levels of corporate personnel to develop an annual budget. Use operational metrics to establish and achieve year-over-year manufacturing/ operational cost improvements. Identify issues or potential issues that can be proactively resolved.

• Productivity: Track and validate cost savings from operations productivity improvement projects

• Process Improvement: Embrace a continuous improvement mindset; Comfortable recommending new ways of working and supporting the implementation of new processes

• Audit: Support internal audits and year-end external audits as needed

• Business Support: This role is considered an integral part of the site team. The Senior Accountant will be expected to regularly spend time on the shop floor to learn the business and contribute to our overall financial success

Qualifications and Experience

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required. CPA, MBA, or CMA a plus.

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance in progressively responsible positions with a demonstrated history of accountability and achievement.

• Experience with SAP preferred. Advanced, proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with a heavy emphasis on Excel required.

• Required to be on site 3-4 days per week due to manufacturing environment.

• Proactive character who takes ownership of the numbers

• Possess a high level of confidence and the ability to build strong internal relationships while maintaining a collaborative style.

• Must effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
