Works under direction and receives assignments and orders in general terms and is usually expected to complete an assignment within a determined time frame but is free to work out the details and sequences. Interprets regulations, policies, etc. for the guidance of other employees or the public; administers regulations and/or policies. Position Information Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provides general oversight and administration of any assigned program, initiative, or objective, which should include supervision of staff. Assigns and reviews work; establishes timeframes for the completion of assigned tasks; trains and orients new employees; approves/disapproves requests for paid leaves; interviews candidates for employment and makes recommendations for hire; evaluates employee work performance; receives and responds to grievances; provides assistance with the development of unit work procedures and policies. Researches and makes recommendations to supervisor regarding assigned area's policies and procedures as it relates to completion of work and/or provision of services; administers regulations and/or policies. Develops, implements, and distributes regular and ad hoc reports; reviews and evaluates reports for efficiency and effectiveness. Directs and/or coordinates daily tasks related to one or more assigned components of a department's/division's overall programs and/or services. Regularly communicates with supervisor and other staff, including student workers, as required or needed in the completion of daily tasks in support of the department's/division's overall goals and objectives. Prepares and maintains accurate records of daily tasks in accordance with the department's/division's (or University's) policies and procedures and assures timely communication with supervisor, staff, and students where appropriate. Gathers data and prepares reports and other information/documentation for supervisory review related to the department's/division's programs and/or services, or one or more assigned components thereof. Interacts with diverse populations of prospective students to counsel and explain admissions policy and procedures; discusses available academic programs; executes specific recruitment strategies (e.g. high school visits, college fair visits, and personal contact with prospective students, family member and school counselors) to achieve goals. Assists with the planning and implementation of recruitment events. Gathers information from external and internal sources to identify and understand how various factors impact assigned territories; evaluates the information to develop strategies within assigned recruitment territory. Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; participates in staff development activities; attends meetings, conferences, and other events. Other Functions and Responsibilities: Assists with training new hires. Performs other related duties as assigned. Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.
