General Summary

Provides diagnosis and treatment of patients within the scope of practice as defined by all applicable Federal, State and local laws, regulations, protocols, etc. and within the individual Advance Practice Providers particular clinical specialty area, licensure and competency level. Performs acts of medical diagnosis or prescription of medical therapeutic or corrective measures as appropriate. Supervises and schedules the work of specified clinical staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Facilitates communication between departmental staff, patients & Physicians.

  • Acts as a resource, educator and consultant to staff. Develops and evaluates standards of care and protocols as necessary.

  • Recommends staffing levels, selects and assigns staff, evaluates performance, provides coaching, evaluates/tests competencies (as applicable), provides orientation, training and continuing education of staff, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.

  • Ensures internal quality control measures for managing daily clinical operations, providing prompt quality care for employees and improving and maintaining high quality customer service.

  • Ensures that all EH&S staff are up to date on competencies and training as it pertains to any new technologies that have been introduced by the practice team.

  • Develops a standard schedule to coordinate coverage for the EH&S Department and on-call for nursing staff. Approves payroll, schedules PTO and CME time granted for staff members. Updates notice of that schedule to all EH&S sites.

  • Works as a member of the EH&S team to ensure the successful completion of objectives and strategic goals. Helps foster behaviors among staff that promote effective, equitable, safe, coordinated, patient centered and efficient care for our patients. Creates and supports a culture of engagement within the team.

  • Conducts annual performance reviews in collaboration with the Director. Assists staff with writing personal goals and objectives.

  • Represent EH&S Department at necessary meetings.

  • Promotes standardization of best practices, supports clinical innovations for better Provider collaboration and drives change management principles to assure successful implementation in the EH&S practice.

  • Works with various other department to provide optimum care and services including the Workers' Compensation team for management and care of cases and the Talent Acquisition to maintain efficient and high quality onboarding to meet regulatory requirements.

  • Provides timely, accurate and complete documentation in the EH&S electronic medical record indicating patient status, follow-up visits, and treatment plan.

  • Provides emotional support to patient and family as may be appropriate.

  • Act on behalf of the Director in their absence.

  • Performs acts of medical diagnosis or prescription of medical therapeutic or corrective measures as appropriate

Common Expectations:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).

  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.

  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.

  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Masters Degree Nurse Practitioner - with national certification Required or

  • Bachelors Degree for Physician Assistant. Required or

  • Masters Degree for Physician Assistant. Required.

Work Experience:

  • 2 years clinical experience in Urgent Care, ED, Employee/Occupational Health or Medical/Surgical unit Required

  • 3 years Advanced Practice Clinician experience in Urgent Care, ED, Employee/Occupational Health Preferred

Licenses:

  • Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner Upon Hire Required or

  • National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants Upon Hire Required.

  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Appropriate clinical specialty certification Upon Hire Required and

  • Completion of an accredited program for nurse practitioners or physician assistants Upon Hire Required
