Summary: The Supply Chain Internship position provides an opportunity for engineering and supply chain students experience in Global diversified company. The intern in this role will be trained on Sourcing/procurement/Logistics processes & tasks and business software tools (Microsoft Office, Navision, etc.). The incumbent in this job is responsible to support the overall Voith efforts in achieving the goals & objectives of delivery, inventory, quality and service. This role also performs data management and analysis with the goal of improving the organization's supply chain.

Responsibilities:

Supports analysis and development of purchasing forecasts utilizing the tools available to monitor changes in sales order requirements.

Monitor inventory turns goals while maintaining availability on core materials for smooth production. Analyze & maintain the safety stock level periodically.

Monitor material delivery schedules based on MRP requirements with a focus on zero stock outs and minimizing excess inventory.

Data Management and Analysis of raw materials, purchasing, inventory and sales trends to mitigate risks and seek opportunities to balance the supply chain.

Process purchase requisitions from internal stakeholders and ensure the accuracy of information

Identify and source requirements from a supply base of current and/or new suppliers based on the project needs, specifications, flow down requirements and material group strategy / business targets

Receive, review and evaluate vendor proposals to make purchase recommendations and issue Purchase orders

Track purchases, monitors supplier quality and delivery and communicates to internal stakeholder

Review and resolve invoice discrepancies

Proactively anticipate and communicate potential material shortages. Develop and execute recovery plans for anticipated shortages to eliminate/minimize impact to customers.

Maintains a current supplier database of supplier information and ensures proper documentation. Monitor external supplier prices in Navision Item card required to generate a fully costed product.

Adhere to the VOITH Purchasing Guidelines as well as the Standard Operating Procedures related to purchasing activities. Follow Voith standards and guidelines for establishing new suppliers and insure they are qualified commercially, product quality and financially to support Voith business needs

Process import paperwork, custom clearance, and cargo pick-up with US Ocean Ports

Track shipping status and ensure visible communication to all stakeholder

Effective communication with 3rd party logistic provider (rail, ocean, LTL trucking); ensure compliance of logistical regulations.

Analyze logistic route, 3PL performance and quote trend to suggest cost saving initiative

Constant review of current lanes and assessment of consolidation opportunities

Oversee freight audit and payment process and reporting

Manage claims processes, reporting and training

Proactively research and report on trends and industry changes and make recommendations

Perform other tasks as assigned by Sr. Manager of Supply Chain.

Plan and implement supply chain optimization projects

Requirements:

Student currently enrolled in classes leading to a degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Materials Ma agement or other business disciplines.

Skills required for success in this role: Analysis, negotiation, self-motivating, problem solving, and a team player

Ability to work independently and as a member of a cross-functional team.

Willingness to learn, be mentored, and improve, with a positive attitude and solid communication skills.

Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to thoroughly analyze, interpret data / information to make sound informed decisions

This position requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently troubleshoot as well as develop alternative solutions to problems.

Ability to understand Engineering and Design direction and provide focused supply-chain solutions accordingly.

Ability to apply statistical methods to improve business processes

Ability to identify and resolve inconsistencies and gaps between demand and supply (forecast/customer orders vs. supply chain, shop capacity, and manpower)

Excellent collaboration skills required. Able to effectively interface at all levels of the organization.

Demonstrated ability to work in a team and a positive communication style.

Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects under different managers

Strong Knowledge of ERP systems (Navision / SAP preferred) and reporting tools (PowerBI, Qlik Sense).

Proficient on Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, complex formulas).

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
