Nevada Copper Network Engineer in Yerington, Nevada
Nevada Copper (TSX:NCU) is a copper producer and owner of the Pumpkin Hollow copper project. Located in Nevada, USA, Pumpkin Hollow has substantial reserves and resources including copper, gold, and silver. Its two fully permitted projects include the high-grade underground mine and processing facility, which is now in the production stage, and a large-scale open pit project, which is advancing towards feasibility status.
Purpose of the Position:
The Network Engineer is responsible for network and cyber security design, implementation, management & monitoring, and maintenance, including support maintenance of network security and data integrity, troubleshooting, and resolving network problems, monitoring overall performance, and conducting necessary upgrades as well as other related duties.

Design and implement networks for underground, Mill, and Surface Operational areas
Understand company and department level strategies and defines a network architecture that enables and supports those strategies
Oversee and manage the Network infrastructure including
Network expansion capacity planning, architecture, design, and deployment
Network fault finding, diagnosis, and resolution
Network installation and configuration
Network support and preventive maintenance
Network Audit and Security
Managing, monitoring, performance optimization, and issue resolution for surface and underground network devices including: -
Cisco Routers
Switches
Telephony
Microwave communications systems
Wireless Technologies
WAN Acceleration
Radio Systems
Internet connection
Design, implement, and maintain computer networks with a strong emphasis on security, including but not limited to Operational Technology (OT) networks and SCADA systems, ensuring reliable and secure data communication paths and control systems in industrial environments.
Manage and Maintain VLANs on the network
Manage integration of Underground, Process, and Surface networks
Ensure that network best practices are defined and followed within the work
Maintain and manage monitoring tools and other applications related to network management
Interact with vendors, service providers, and other third parties
Ensure the achievement of high availability of telecom and network infrastructure that support business functions by providing a report on SLAs/KPI metrics
Configure and manage Cisco networking equipment including switches, routers, core switches, and phone systems, with a focus on ensuring seamless integration and communication between IT and OT environments.
Develop networking standards, policies, and procedures for effective management of the site infrastructure
Conduct security and vulnerability audits and assessments of the mine’s IT Network systems
Support day-to-day activities of the Cyber Security Operations Center (SOC)
Configure, monitor, and manage Firewalls, EDR, IDPs, IPs, etc.
Support penetration tests and implement security recommendations
Support physical security systems including access control, video surveillance systems, etc.
Information protection including threat detection and hunting, security architecture, cyber resiliency, network security architecture, network access, and monitoring policies
Ad-hoc tasks and projects assigned by the Head of IT
Health and Safety:
Ensure that all safety procedures and regulatory guidelines are followed
Support the site safety culture through safe work practices
Participate in health and safety meetings and risk reviews as required
Knowledge/Education:
The Network Engineer should be proficient with the following attributes:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
Experience in OT (Operational Technology) networks and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) networks.
Min of 5+ years experience in computer networks and security
Experience with Configuring and managing Cisco switches, routers, core switches, and phone systems
Experience with Configuring and managing Cisco IOS/ISO-XE, Wireless LAN controllers, and Cisco Prime
Network certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, etc. will be a plus
Security certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CEH, etc. will be a plus
Possesses experience and knowledge of Solar winds and other network monitoring tools
Expertise with standard ITIL processes, including Change, Incident, Request fulfillment and Release management
Understanding of wireless site survey technologies
Prior experience working applying project management methodology
Extensive experience working with SIEM, EDR, Firewall, IPS, Identity and access management technologies
Experience working in Mining / Oil & Gas / Heavy Manufacturing a plus

Work Schedule and Personal Protective Equipment:
The incumbent is expected to work a 40 hour/week schedule. Position may require weekend or evening work depending on organizational and operational requirements for a mine start-up environment. Ability to work extended hours as operational needs require to support projects. Personal Protective Equipment required for the fieldwork portion of this position includes, but is not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots. All equipment must be MSHA approved as applicable.
