Job Purpose

Safely perform all secondary operations in accordance with manufacturing order and associated control plans to maximize productivity and optimize quality.

Working together in teams effectively, support each other to be the best we can be and treat each other with respect and dignity.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Comply with all company policies, rules, and procedures.

  • Take appropriate action in emergencies.

  • Maintain accurate work documentation, including the necessary computer transactions.

  • Clean product as required.

  • Set-up and operate centerless grinding equipment, Acme Belt Grinders, and Planing room equipment.

  • according to the SOPs to provide required tolerances and optimizing efficiency and quality.

  • Read schedule and order packs and secure equipment / material needs for production run ahead of machine shut down.

  • Operate planer, automated flipper, and baler according to SOPs optimizing efficiency and quality.

  • Operate table saw to trim product according to customer specifications.

  • Initiate and support activities to minimize down time and improve product quality.

  • Make disposition on scrap.

  • Transfer product to next manufacturing process or warehouse in a timely manner. Move completed product to shipping area with appropriate paperwork. Assist with loading trucks for shipment and unloading trucks as required.

  • Print, stamp, or label appropriate identification on product per customer order specifications.

  • Record, maintain, and report accurate production records and work documentation.

  • Perform visual inspection of tooling and perform minor maintenance as needed.

  • Initiate/communicate quality, safety, and process improvement actions.

  • Inspect all products and use all tools required to control specified requirements.

  • Perform and record in-process quality checks and takes corrective action in the event of process deviations.

  • Assist maintenance, supervision, and/or engineering personnel in problem solving, new equipment, or tooling design to maximize efficiency and prevent downtime.

  • Maintain work areas and company property to an acceptable housekeeping cleanliness (5S).

  • Safely operate Powered Motor Vehicles (PMVs).

  • Attend courses for training and retraining as required.

  • Perform all duties as assigned by supervision or lead person.

  • 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM Shift

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent English reading, writing, mathematical, and comprehension skills.

  • Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions provided in SDS sheets, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WI) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).

  • Working knowledge of measuring equipment, including tape measure and micrometers.

  • Physically able to perform work assignments.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Must have general mechanical aptitude.

  • Computer literate.

  • The salary range for this position is $18.79 Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
