State of Massachusetts Security Team Specialist I in Wrentham, Massachusetts

_The work location for this position is in Wrentham, MA._ The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is dedicated to creating, in partnership with others, innovative and genuine opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to participate fully and meaningfully in, and contribute to, their communities as valued members. This position is located in Wrentham, MA for the Wrentham Developmental Center (WDC). The Facility is seeking to fill a Campus Police Officer I position. The facility is located on a 400 acre campus; providing services for a 250-bed facility serving the more complex medical, rehabilitative, educational, and recreational needs of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and challenges. _Job Responsibilities:_ (The duties and responsibilities stated are general summary and not all inclusive.) The Security Team Specialist I will work to ensure and maintain secure campus environment. Provide security for residents, staff and property at a 400-acre facility for the developmentally challenged. Patrol assigned campus buildings and adjacent areas on foot or in a patrol vehicle. Guards against trespass, theft, damage to property or injury to individuals by screening visitors, inspecting rooms, controlling crowds, conducting surveillance, searching for missing goods and persons, investigate complaints and reports of suspicious activity, mediate disputes, and inspect buildings, grounds, fire lanes, and emergency exits for compliance with safety standards to ensure campus security. Assist local fire department, law enforcement and emergency medical services responding to emergencies at the facility. Assist in the investigation of traffic accidents making sure that all reports are written properly; reinforce campus traffic, parking, and safety regulations. Assist in the evacuation of youth, clients, residents in drills or emergency situations. Assist grounds crew during snow storms. Operate equipment such as telephone switchboard, two way radios, fax, and computer equipment._ _ _The ideal candidate will have the following Preferred Qualifications:_ Appointee must be eligible for appointment as a special police officer under Chapter 22C, Section 60 (DPH) and Section 59 (DMH & DMR) of the Massachusetts General Laws. Candidate will be in possession of an Associates degree or higher. Knowledge of methods and procedures followed in security of buildings and property. Understanding of the laws, rules and regulations governing arrest, search, and seizure. Candidate will hold an acceptable driving record. Schedule Information: Full-time – 40 hour weekly position Schedule – 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM Sunday, Wednesday,Thursday, Friday,Saturday Days off – Monday, Tuesday, Flexibility with work schedule will be required for this position.
