Saint-Gobain Plant Manager in WORCESTER, Massachusetts
The incumbent is responsible for leading all aspects of site management and continuous improvement for the manufacturing location. In support of the business strategy, the incumbent will deliver on the plant’s operational goals and objectives and is responsible for managing the operations to achieve long and short term business objectives including EHS, growth, profitability, capital investment, cost reduction, quality and other operational objectives. Engineering, EHS, Quality, Finance, Human Resources and Production report directly to the Plant Manager. The Plant Manager will lead and develop a dynamic workforce while increasing the meaningful contribution of our site and our employees.
Essential Functions--------
Operation Management (30%)
Develop Site-Specific Strategy: Collaborate with the Director of Operations and GM to create a comprehensive annual strategy that aligns with the short, medium, and long-term objectives of the Business.
Financial Growth: Identify and pursue opportunities for financial growth, ensuring that all initiatives contribute positively to the bottom line.
Operational Efficiency: Drive operational efficiency by analyzing production processes and implementing improvements through capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, ensuring they align with strategic goals.
Production Flow Coordination: Oversee the coordination of production flow throughout the factory, adjusting capacities based on demand and optimizing resource utilization.
Quality Improvement: Recommend and implement methods to enhance product quality and service delivery, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Leadership & Employee Development (30%)
Coaching and Support: Provide guidance and mentorship to staff at all levels to help them plan and execute their roles effectively, meeting both customer and business requirements.
Team Development: Promote a culture of teamwork and collaboration across all functional areas, enhancing communication and management control systems.
Succession Planning: Work with HR to identify key roles within the plant and establish succession plans to ensure continuity and development of leadership talent.
Employee Engagement: Foster a motivating environment that encourages employee engagement and accountability to drive performance and results.
Safety & Compliance (15%)
Safety Standards: Ensure that the facility adheres to all safety regulations and standards, fostering a culture of safety among employees.
Environmental Compliance: Maintain compliance with environmental regulations and company policies, ensuring the facility operates sustainably.
Communication: Act as the primary liaison for safety and environmental matters, ensuring clear communication of policies and practices within the organization and to external stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement (5%)
World Class Results: Lead initiatives aimed at achieving World Class operational results through the implementation of best practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement, driving a culture of excellence.
Financial Oversight (10%)
Budget Management: Oversee site-level financial results, ensuring adherence to budgets and effective financial controls.
KPI Reviews: Conduct regular reviews of financial KPIs, communicating results and necessary corrective actions to the management team.
Long-Term Planning (10%)
Manufacturing Plan Development: Create and implement a long-term manufacturing plan that aligns with the overall strategic plan of the business.
Capital Projects: Identify and support the development of capital projects that drive efficiency, support new product development, and enhance manufacturing capabilities.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Industrial, or Manufacturing related fields (Required)
Master’s Degree in Business (Preferred)
Work Experience:
Minimum of 10-15 years of progressively responsible work experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge and understanding of materials, scheduling, quality, manufacturing engineering, and operations functions (Required)
Supervisory/Management experience of 7 or more years with demonstrated strong leadership skills (Required)
Practical/Technical Knowledge:
Budgeting, Planning, Project Management - Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills (Required)
Strong computer skills in a Windows environment, including Excel, Access, and Microsoft Word (Required)
Experience with World Class Manufacturing (WCM) systems (Preferred)
