Saint-Gobain Continuous Improvement Intern in WORCESTER, Massachusetts

Saint-Gobain Performance Ceramics & Refractories in Worcester, MA is hiring for an Continuous Improvement Intern who is available to work with our team immediately!

The Continuous Improvement Intern provides assistance to the Regional WCM Coordinator to help implement the corporate continuous improvement program, World Class Manufacturing (WCM), throughout the Refractories business. This is an opportunity for an intern to get exposure and familiar with various departments and activities of Saint-Gobain Performance Ceramics and Refractories, which has a worldwide presence.

The main functions of the role include:

  • Assists the Regional WCM Coordinator in organizing, scheduling, and leading Kaizen Events and Continuous Improvement teams in the plant.

  • Facilitate and track completion of all 5S Point Kaizen Blitz Events, provide feedback to management with pre audit and post audit updates. Provide feedback to management for outstanding anomalies and open action items from the monthly 5S reviews.

  • Be a 5-S Leader for the organization including performing 5-S co-op audits, reviewing employee audits, developing counter measures, and following up to ensure 5S gains are maintained and measured.

  • Data entry associated with Project Teams, 5-S Audits, Perimeter walks, etc.

  • Assist and support teams to meet the deadlines of the WCM program milestone plan which includes regular auditing that is critical for pace and standard and ensures Change Management is alive and well on all improvements.

  • Assist with the collection, and analysis of the data to chart progress of the site against the WCM plan and recommend countermeasures to overcome adverse variances.

  • Various project work to bring templates, tools and resources back to a basic standard.

  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as needed and/or requested by management.

  • Administrative updates to daily control system to ensure it is updated and runs smoothly.

  • Other related duties assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full-time student, graduate or undergraduate, in good academic standing.

  • Competent in the technical capacity, collaboration and credibility.

  • Microsoft Suite of product experience including, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint knowledge required.

  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills in order to assist internal, external, and potential partners. They must be able to operate well in a team environment to sustain ongoing relationships with colleagues.
