About Woodward Resource Center (WRC)

At WRC, an Iowa Department of Health and Human Services state-operated specialty care facility, our mission is to prepare and support individuals to in the community of their choice. From the moment of admission, we prioritize personalized, quality care and support. As part of the WRC team, you will play a vital role in assisting clinicians with the implementation of programs to maintain physical nutritional management, mobility, range of motion, and activities of daily living so individuals may be as independent as possible and live in the community of their choice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete therapeutic work at a sub-professional level in the treatment and prevention of physical disability through use of physical therapy techniques, programs, methods, and equipment.

  • Monitor adaptive equipment to ensure proper use including but not limited to all beds (standard and hospital) and mattress protectors, per procedure.

  • Monitor programs and issued equipment (knee pads, elbow pads, gait belts, etc.).

  • Monitor mobility and positioning plans for staff compliance.

  • Collaborate as an interdisciplinary team member in program development and implementation.

  • Complete all training required of the position, demonstrating proficiency of skills and knowledge, ensuring training is recorded in training system.

Key Competencies:

  • Knowledge of precautions to be taken when performing strenuous physical tasks and perform physical tasks required when providing treatment and support to individuals

  • Ability to review and report on data for measurable program goals using percentages and other measures for individual progress on programs

  • Ability to teach and train the use of a variety of equipment to support activity and promotion of physical nutritional management skills to support independence and range of motion

Licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant or Occupational Therapy Assistant preferred but not required.

Applicants will be required to complete a background check to be considered for this position.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

The equivalent of one year of full-time experience as a nursing assistant or therapy aide (e.g., Activities Aide, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Education Aide in a health care facility;

OR

any equivalent combination of the required experience and post high school education in a physical therapy, practical nursing, child care, geriatric care, mental health, or intellectual disability curriculum may be substituted on the basis that thirty semester hours or the equivalent equals one year of experience.
