JEFFCO FIBRES Production Manager in Woodstock, Connecticut

Position Summary

:

The Production Managers overall role is to communicate the Company and Departments needs, provide guidance, support, to identify development needs of the staff, and manage the reciprocal relationship between staff and the company so that each is successful.

The Production Manager oversees executing the day-to-day production schedule and the performance of the employees within the department. This includes monitoring and driving the key performance indicators of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for executing the shift schedule, including workstation assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring the steps of the manufacturing process and adjusting work assignments as needed to ensure operational targets are met.
  • Work with Shipping team to ensure on-time delivery to internal customers
  • Facilitate corrections to machine or process failures.
  • Communicate daily production expectations to staff and provide feedback and training on performance.
  • Maintain and enforce safety requirements, quality standards, and behavioral expectations.
  • Study current methods and implement improvements and cost reductions.
  • Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within the department and between shifts.
  • Lead, drive, and sustain a continuous improvement mindset, using Lean and Six Sigma tools to help improve processes and eliminate waste.
  • Responsible for the leadership and development of their team members, utilizing best practices, excellent communications skills, and performance management techniques.
  • Collaborate with material planning to maximize uptime, on-time delivery, and efficient materials storage.
  • Become a technical expert in coiling equipment which includes operation and troubleshooting issues
  • Work with maintenance department and OEM technicians to maintain equipment in a manner that meets company standards and ensures minimal downtime.
  • Manage training program to ensure proper operation, preventative maintenance, and repair programs/procedures.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • 2-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment. Maintenance experience a plus.
  • 2-5 years of increasing responsibility in a manufacturing leadership role.
  • Results based Leadership style skill set with strong impact and influencing skills.
  • Tenacity and energy in leading change towards an effective work environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to direct and motivate team and others, maintaining a persuasive and credible presentation style at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills and process focus.
  • Progressive, flexible, and team-oriented person required.
  • Spanish fluency a plus.

Education/Professional Certifications

  • AS degree in Engineering or Operations/Business Management preferred, BS is a plus .
  • Training in Lean Six Sigma is a plus.
