Primary Purpose: This position plays an important role in implementing Univar's pivotal initiatives to become world class in protecting the health and safety (H&S) of Univar employees. The position works collaboratively with other regional H&S, quality, and regulatory managers to collectively support field operations. As a field support role, a minimum of 25% travel is expected. What You'll Do: Assist as a liaison between national H&S programs and Univar's regional operations. Participates in drafting regional portions of new programs and introduce, educate and provide training on them. Provide support and motivation to continuously improve H&S measures at individual facilities. Take lead in preparing required plans (e.g. Process Safety Management) and as appropriate facility operating procedures (e.g., machine specific LOTO) Serve as regional contact for local, federal, and state agencies. Jointly lead EHS audit process in assigned area of responsibility. Assist operations in addressing audit recommendations. Participate in accident investigations and perform root cause analysis for all injuries and near misses. Train operations managers to conduct detailed investigations and root cause analysis. Help define and support H&S performance metrics. Maintain knowledge of all applicable corporate, federal, state and local H&S regulatory requirements. Stay abreast of developing regulatory requirements, particularly on a state and local level, identifying when Univar should be involved in the legislative or regulatory process. Keep operations and Director of Health & Safety informed of new and developing regulations. Participate in and support cross-functional project teams and committees. What You'll Need: 5+ years' experience providing health & safety functional oversight for multiple locations within a region for a chemical (or related) company that includes warehousing and transportation fleet. Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety or related field OR equivalent relevant experience. Detailed familiarity with OSHA and state equivalents for chemical (or related) facilities. Handle regulatory compliance at multiple facilities in multiple states. Efficiently and thoroughly audit facilities as well as assist in addressing audit findings Proficiency to handle OSHA recordkeeping and H&S metrics for multiple facilities Develop H&S training content and facilitate learning through leader-led training and other learning platforms. Strong work ethic and initiative Highly adaptable, self-motivated with a desire for continuous learning and improvement Meticulous attention to detail Where you'll Work: This is a home-based role. Preference for candidates located in the Greater Seattle area. Pay and Benefits: The salary range for this position is $125,300 - $187,900. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive pay. Available employee benefits include health, vision, and dental. We also provide 401k matching for retirement and paid time off.
