BASIC PURPOSE
The Seasonal Assistant will assist with all seasonal programs and activities including, but not limited to, the Annual Kettle Campaign, Seasonal Toy and Food Drives, distributions, volunteer recruitment and management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ + Secure and manage all kettle locations to ensure completion of all agreements and documentation per Salvation Army policy.
Ensure kettle equipment is in good working order including delivery and pick up of all necessary equipment per Salvation Army policy.
Recruit and train volunteer kettle workers as instructed and ensure the completion of any and all necessary documentation per Salvation Army policy.
Assist with the management, supervision and scheduling of kettle workers, including reminding and confirming kettle workers are at their assigned location for their scheduled days and times.
Fill in for kettle workers who do not report for duty or need to adjust their schedule whenever possible.
Assist in the counting and depositing of kettle funds as per Salvation Army policy.
Ensure the best condition of all kettle equipment and adequate supply for the duration of the kettle season.
Assist with the delivery and pick up of all kettle equipment daily.
Assist with the end of season inventory and storage of all kettle equipment.
Assist with the collection and submission of volunteer hours for all kettle workers as needed.
Assist with all necessary paperwork and reports as requested by supervisor.
Assist with all aspects of the annual food and toy collection as needed.
Assist with all aspects of food and toy distribution as needed.
Assist with office tasks as needed.
Other duties as may be assigned by the Service Center Coordinator, the Field Representative or Service Extension Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma
Ability to speak and write the English language at a high and professional level
High degree of confidentiality
Computer literate, in Windows environment (Microsoft Office), Publisher, Access and Lotus Notes preferred
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent and professional telephone etiquette
Excellent organizational skills
Strong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks
Excellent attention to detail and ability to track and present very accurate information
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Ability to maintain good rapport and communication with other staff members, service unit and center personnel, vendors and the public.
Ability to professionally and accurately operate under stressful working conditions in a rapidly changing work environment with multiple priorities
Knowledge of The Salvation Army and its organizational structure preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Possess and maintain a current, valid California Class C Drivers License
Complete and maintain necessary requirements to drive a Salvation Army vehicle per policy.
Must be 21 years of age or older
Possess and maintain current personal vehicle registration
Possess and maintain current personal vehicle insurance
Complete and pass The Salvation army vehicle course training within 30 days of employment
Complete and pass Protecting the Mission training within 30 days of employment
Complete and pass Salvation Army harassment training within 30 days of employment
Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects

Ability to operate telephone
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. for administrative positions
