Element Materials Technology Project Engineer in Wixom, Michigan

Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our rapidly expanding Project Management team in our Wixom, MI Lab. The Project Engineer will be coached to be able to provide quotations, manage testing programs, write technical reports, and support the other team members. Our Engineers perform a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. The project manager position must be proficient in a number of core business and technical skills as well as compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop positive relationships with new and existing clients

  • Provide excellent customer service

  • Be accountable for timely responses to testing inquiries

  • Interact with customers on technical issues and questions

  • Provide input and support on business development opportunities with new or existing customers

  • Provide technical and engineering leadership, and supports the development of new technologies within a local laboratory

  • Have the ability to oversee standard and/or routine technical problem-solving activities

  • Be confident in making both formal and informal presentations on conventional and/or routine testing to a wide range of stakeholders

  • Assist in the professional development of colleagues within the local laboratory

  • Utilize an assortment of skill, methods, procedures and materials in advanced testing analysis

  • Be adept at drawing on internal knowledge as well as industry and/or academic resources in reaching testing conclusions

Skills / Qualifications

  • Possess a high level of expertise related to scope, core theories, concepts, terminologies and boundaries of chosen engineering discipline

  • Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in a science or testing related field including but not limited to: Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, and Polymer Engineering

  • Have a minimum of 0-5 years project management or engineering experience, or advanced academic/professional qualifications

  • Possesses a demonstrated ability to apply academic knowledge within the context of materials testing and product testing

  • In-depth understanding of testing concepts

  • Can analyze and compile testing data from the tests performed

  • Possess strong computer skills

  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety
