General Description
The Environmental Specialist supports the operational team with regulatory and Company compliance through teamwork and implementation of the Environmental Management System procedures and policies.
Key Duties
Including but not limited to-
Support operational teams. Ensure personnel understand potential impacts associated with their work and the necessary actions to maintain compliance with regulations, permits, plans and Company procedures
Provide assistance with compliance activities including permitting, plans, recordkeeping, reporting and managing non compliance
Assist with the development and implementation of Environmental Management System policies, procedures, and additional resources to improve performance, mitigate risk, and meet the needs of the Company
Serve as point of contact with federal, state, and local environmental regulatory agencies
Provide training to personnel as required by permits and internal policies
Communicate pertintent environmental information to Area Managers, Environmental Managers, and the Director of Environmental.
Responsible for staying informed of environmental regulation changes
Support Company due diligence efforts associated with land use, acquisitions and divestments
Day travel within assigned area
Carry out job duties while maintaining Company values
Other duties as assigned
Qualification Requirements

Experience permitting, writing and implementing plans, performing due diligence, and managing compliance for construction materials manufacturing and heavy civil construction industries preferred
Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Environmental, or Geo Sciences preferred, qualifing work experience maybe substituted for college degree
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Pointpoint, and Outlook
Effective communicator

Self-motivated
Acts with integrity, transparency, and accountability
Ability to create a schedule and meet deadlines
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Physical Demands. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an Environmental Specialist to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Must have the ability to carry out duties in varying work environments including wide ranging weather conditions and terrain.
Regularly required to sit and/or stand during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day.
Employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.
Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 25 pounds and carry up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Continuous mental attention required to complete tasks in an efficient manner.
Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that an Environmental Specialist encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
Work is performed indoors (office setting) and outdoors (construction and asphalt sites).
Must have the ability to carry out duties in varying work environments including wide ranging weather conditions and terrain.
