We’re on the hunt for an Innovation Flavorist RE-MASTER Citrus™ to join our team at the freshly inaugurated Citrus Innovation Center located in Lakeland, Florida.

IFF’s Re-Master™ programs accelerate innovation to capture unmet opportunities in the changing food and beverage market. Based on a combination of future trends analysis, consumer insights, and a modernized cross-category development process, the programs guide the Company’s research and development efforts to ensure an innovation pipeline.

Your Focus

As Innovation Flavorist you will conduct creative flavor development work supporting Citrus R&D & Innovation. With your strong finished product knowledge, excellent problem-solving abilities, and sense for innovation you will provide technical services within the IFF multi-functional citrus team in our innovative Citrus Innovation Center.

You will partner with the Innovation Program Director and Innovation Core Team. As part of the team, you will collaborate with senior staff to support successful transitions of new technologies to flavorists on a global basis. Cross-category experience in flavor creation is important even though focus will be on citrus developments. You will have a good understanding of the dynamic marketplace, be initiative-taking in nature, and have a passion for exploring new flavor and food materials.

Working in a citrus dedicated team environment, IFF will be looking for you to drive innovation and creativity, hereby assisting our customers to enhance their existing product line and successfully launch new products in the marketplace. This is an exciting opportunity for a starter (5 year plus) in flavor creation who is looking to advance their career with one of the largest and most innovative flavor creation houses in the world.

How you will Contribute

• Flavor Creation for the RE-MASTER Citrus™ program. You will run flavor design and testing under the guidance of senior staff and the global citrus creative network.

• Support Innovation activities related to flavor creation, discovery, and technical performance at the intersection between R&D, Innovation Program Directors and commercial Flavorists to ensure optimal delivery of new ingredients and technologies.

• Interact with broad range of stakeholders, including Science partners, R&D, commercial flavorists, regulatory, operations, and external partners.

• Provide cross-functional support within global project teams, working closely together with project management office.

• Anticipates, investigates, and resolves problems related to raw materials, solutions, finished prototypes and initial scale-up procedures.

• You support sensorial testing in basic solutions as well in finished product applications, including running sensory stability protocols.

• Interact with visiting customers and partners to understand requirements, capture opportunities, and build solid relationships.

• Utilize and promote IFF technology to deliver unique solutions to the portfolio.

• Ensure all activities are in line with IFF policies, and Global Innovation Rules as well as safety, hygiene and efficient day-to-day operations of the flavor creation laboratory and facilities. Commitment to all company policies, rules, regulations, IFF quality is an absolute must.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Food Science and Technology or related disciplines (such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, and chemical science)

• At least 5 years of experience in flavor creation, having passed the flavorist trainee stage. Higher levels of experience will be considered.

• Completed qualifying Flavorist training Program and/or proven track record at equivalent level with competitor.

• Good knowledge of raw materials and flavor ingredients, flavor formulations, solvent and carrier systems, delivery systems, analytical methodologies, and regulatory requirements

• Experience with citrus flavor creation is necessary.

• Good tasting skills and the excellent ability to create and adjust flavor formulations that meet the taste requirements of customers and consumers.

• Ability to build relationships with internal and external customers and present new capabilities.

• Presentation and Project Management skills

• Proven successful working with flavorists and sensory experts.

• Exploratory mindset, problem solving skills.

• Drive for results, taking ownership and not afraid to go the “extra mile.”

• Ability to work in a geographically distributed matrix organization.

• Excellent communication, computer, and math skills

• Excellent English written and verbal communications, additional language fluencies are considered a plus.
