Job Overview

Tasks Summary & Responsibilities:

Demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of lab processes and procedures. This position requires the applicant to be well organized and self-motivated while working under minimum supervision. The applicant must have good mechanical skills, but electrical knowledge of series and parallel circuits would be helpful. Experience with mechanical fixtures and hand tools is important. Soldering and general electrical testing skills would also be helpful. Applicants must have problem solving and critical thinking skills while working under demanding customer deadlines.

The applicant must have excellent technical written and communication skills along with interpersonal skills that are required to interface with external and internal customers. Supporting laboratory accreditation and lab safety efforts is also a must.

Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• High Technical aptitude.

• Capacity to read and interpret industrial standards such as USCAR, SAE, IEC, etc. Monitor tests per specifications, troubleshoot test set-ups, Recognize, and understand failure modes, document all pertinent data.

• Prepare samples fortesting: understanding mechanical forces, fixturing, measuring, and documenting test setups. Have the mechanical ability to assemble and modify complex test fixtures (mechanically Inclined).

• Perform initial, interim, and final measurements. Document, verify and review all findings in a technical report in detail with the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Aptitude to build and grow a “TRUST” relationship with our customers.

• Must be able to collaborate closely with team members but also be able to work independently.

• Maintain accurate and timely updates on test progression and test schedules. Meet committed completion dates.

• Maintain a clean and organize working environment.

What your background should look like:

Educational Background:

Prefer an associate degree in Mechanical (and/or Electrical) Engineering Technology (or currently enrolled in school, working toward this).

Professional Experience:

Two or more years in a mechanical skill and/or testing in a technical field or related experience preferred.

Special Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:

• Experienced with mechanical devices and standard hand tools.

• Capability of creative, analytical and structured thinking with the ability to execute.

• Effective problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication & presentation skills (oral & written).

• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Project).

• Good soldering skills and manual dexterity.

Must be able to multitask and take full ownership of assigned projects and display a strong work ethic.

Monday to Friday 7 am to 4 pm - Flexible schedule hours available.

COMPENSATION

• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $49,600 – $74,400 (subject to change dependent on physical location)

• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
