Dairy Farmers of America Class A Yard Driver in Winston Salem, North Carolina

Job Description

• Perform trailer movement according to prioritization to optimize plant or warehouse efficiencies and production

needs

• Hook, unhook and move trucks to and from the service department and around dock area

• Spot or position loaded and unloaded trailers at assigned dock space for unloading or loading

• Connect loaded semitrailers to tractors for the drivers

• Maintain accurate trailer and inventory movement log

• Follow steps to ensure proper operation and perform periodic preventive maintenance including pre and post

trip inspections of equipment in the area

• Perform duties required to ensure that assigned area is sanitary and clean

• Wash exterior of trucks and trailers if appropriate for yard location

• Complete sales route deliveries and/or over-the-road routes, as needed

• Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety, DOT, and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity and

accidents and injuries

• Attend all driver workshops and training sessions

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Tractor/trailer experience, within the last five years preferred

• Must meet minimum age requirements

• Meet all DOT requirements

• Meet Dairy Farmers of America Motor Vehicle Record requirements

• Certification and/or License – Current CDL (Class A) license in state of residence; current tanker endorsement if needed

• Understanding of DOT transportation regulations related to lawful operation

• Able to work safely and recognize sudden hazards and adjust accordingly

• Able to use computers and technology needed for the job

• Skills with math sufficient to calculate load size
