Transport Driver\ Salary starting at \$13.21/hr

Position Notes:This is an on-call or as needed position as a transport driver. Employee will coordinate with various agencies needing a transport driver for both juvenile and adult offenders, and children in need of care. Drivers will check out a vehicle and any necessary equipment then pick up the individual at a designated location and deliver the individual to a secondary location. The driver will follow all traffic laws. Employee must reside within Cowley County.

Position Summary:After completing required training, the driver will be placed on the list of available drivers. Drivers will be utilized on an as need basis, there will not be a schedule. Community- Based Services staff will contact the driver when they are needing a transport. To be available, the driver must be drug and alcohol free, and able to respond to within the time needed for each transport. When the driver is called, he/she must possess the ability to travel to various homes or localities to pick up and deliver individuals. The successful candidate must possess a valid drivers license, pass a drug screen and complete a background check.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to driver in all types of traffic and conditions
  • Ability to navigate maps
  • Follow all traffic laws
  • Comply with the terms of the transport driver contract
  • Complete a transport log
  • Report any problems or issues to Community- Based Services staff\ \

Position Requirements: Applicant must be 21 years of age or older and pass a KBI Criminal and Child Abuse Registry Check and provide a clean drug screen test. The successful candidate must reside within Cowley County.

Experience: No experience is needed. Experience driving is preferred.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Skills:

  • Knowledge of traffic laws
  • Ability to navigate to certain locations
  • Valid Kansas Drivers license and able to operate a motor vehicle

Accountability:Driver is responsible for safely delivering individuals that could be in custody of Law Enforcement or DCF to a responsible agent at a designated location.

Working Conditions:Duties are performed primarily in a vehicle.

Physical Requirements:Driving; walking; frequent speaking and listening; ability to navigate high risk and/or high stress situations. Driver will be exposed to all types of environmental conditions including those that are not handicap accessible.
