This position is for a Principal Electrical Engineering Design Engineer. This role is responsible for solving highly complex design challenges and becoming the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for various designs and design processes in the electrical design discipline. This individual may lead technical resources in the design, development, and support of electronic control products for the Power & Controls Digital Controls Product Line. The principal engineer will solve design challenges and may lead a team of engineers working on projects ranging from new product development, production support, and field investigations. This role requires a strong designer with familiarity of analog / digital circuit design and analysis, complex logic devices, and hardware / software integration. Focus on high speed digital design/analysis/expertise.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Primary Responsibilities:

Solves complex design challenges and coaches, reviews, and delegates electrical design analysis and actions to lower-level engineers to meet project milestones.

Responsible for discipline subject matter expertise, influencing the design team regarding policies, practices, and procedures (including continuous improvement).

Contributes to the development of goals in the electrical design discipline and planning efforts (budgets, plans, etc…).

Leverages advanced principles, theories, and concepts of circuit / electronic operation to provide solutions to complex challenges across multiple specialties.

Responsible for successful execution of design, substantiation, certification, and qualification activities for Electronic Control products.

Communicates effectively in a cross-discipline work environment including design, project, program, executives. This can include influencing design and process execution in non-standard programs.

Qualifications/ Experience Needed:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

High speed digital design analysis expertise, utilizing simulation/analysis tools and standard work.

Prior experience leading a design team for complex electronic controls.

Demonstrated experience in complex design solutions/troubleshooting/teamwork.

Electrical engineering development process experience with embedded controls.

Demonstrated broad-based technical competencies in electronic control design aspects such as digital processing systems and analog circuit design.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
