Digital Controls projects include support of cockpit displays, flight controls, air management systems, military avionics as well as a variety of other avionics equipment. Projects worked may be for either helicopters or fixed wing aircraft. You could work either commercial or military programs, which will be determined based upon qualifications and program needs.

This position is for an applied mechanics engineer within the electronics packaging group with a passion to learn about and gain experience in the thermal, structural and Aviation industry

What You Will Do:

  • You will support clean sheet design, working with other disciplines of the Integrated Product Team (IPT) including project, mechanical design, and electrical design.

  • You will help with product design troubleshooting and root cause identification activities.

  • You will support resolution of thermal and structural problems of difficult and complex scope, seeking a balanced system solution, ensuring engineering excellence.

  • You will support in the investigation and acceptance of engineering changes to the production configuration, and support of fielded engines.

    What You Will Learn:

  • You will be provided access to Collin’s Aerospace communities of practice for learning and networking opportunities You will learn standard work and CORE/ACE tools to continuously improve the design process.

  • You will gain proficiency with thermal and structural analysis tools.

  • You will gain the basic understanding of thermal and structural principles associated with electronic packaging

    Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

    Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Previous thermal, structural or mechanical design engineering experience (ex: Internship and/or Co-Op)

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.

  • Ability to clearly and concisely communication to all levels of the organization. Have demonstrated problem solving skills and an understanding of engineering principles

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader. Must be a commutable distance to Windsor Locks, CT to work a h schedule. This position may be eligible for relocation.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
