    Primary Purpose of this position:

    Measure, draw, assemble, install, and repair duct, equipment and accessories in order to construct HVAC systems.

    Specific Job Duties:

  • Read and comprehend blue prints

  • Measure, calculate, draw and communicate duct systems to supervisor or vendors for fabrication

  • Calculate, measure and draw systems using manufacturer's specifications

  • Cut and frame holes in structures such as bulkheads, decks, floors, and walls as needed for such structural penetrations prior to duct installation

  • Measure, cut, fabricate, trim, file, grind, deburr, drill, punch and otherwise prepare duct using hand and power tools or machines such as shears, hammers, punches, snips, drills, grinders, etc.

  • Lift duct and adjoin duct and pre-assembled assemblies, attach to structure and equipment utilizing manlift, chain hoist, duct jack, brackets, inserts, threaded rod, screws, rivets, bolts, clips, drives, nuts, bolts, TDC tape, sealer, clamps, welding equipment and other tools and methods

  • Obtain ladders, hardware, sealant, etc. as needed

  • Cut holes for and install take-offs and spin-ins (45-degree entry, round, rectangle or square) using hand or electric snips

  • Install manual dampers, supporting hardware, etc. and make final connections to equipment

  • Install round, spiral and flex duct

  • Repair duct liner and insulate or wrap duct when required

  • Determine type of duct sealant, apply duct sealant, and apply caulk when required

  • Disassemble and remove duct systems when required

  • Install motorized dampers, fire dampers, louvers, air handling units, terminal units, etc.

    Additional Requirements:

  • Comply with all safety standards, policies, and procedures

  • OSHA 10-Hour Certification required as a minimum, additional training may be required

  • Maintain a clean work area and comply with housekeeping requirements

  • Regular and punctual attendance.

  • Ability to work on a team and interact with people

  • Maintain a positive, cooperative, and teachable attitude

  • Follow and adhere to all company policies and procedures

  • Ability to travel to job sites and occasionally have overnight stays

  • Ability to work 8-to-10-hour days, flexible schedule, and overtime when necessary

  • Participate in training and educational opportunities as offered or required by the company

  • Ability to pass a full background screening and drug screening

  • Valid driver’s license required and ability to meet company driver qualification policy preferred

  • Ability to pass a physical ability test
