    Primary Purpose of the Service Projects Estimator position:

    Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other available documentation to prepare accurate time, material, and labor cost estimates of jobs bidding.

    Specific Job Duties:

  • Follow safety guidelines and policies in support of the company safety program.

  • Responsible for staying current on code changes as they relate to the industry.

  • Read general conditions, determine alternates, allowances and permit fees.

  • Read specifications, review drawings and submit pre-bid questions to the attention of the architect/engineer.

  • Receive request for project to be quoted from department manager.

  • Compile take-off summaries, enter in operating system.

  • Create customer proposals.

  • Prepare “Request for Quotations” data for solicitation of quotes from suppliers and subcontractors; solicit pricing from multiple vendors for competitive comparison.

  • Input pricing information updates and assure the accuracy of all rough material prices.

    Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical / plumbing piping & duct systems and equipment in heavy commercial, industrial, and institutional construction

  • Experience with installation of piping systems and/or duct systems is preferred

    Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to visit individual job/project sites to determine scope of work and installation costs, and establish time frames

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders to access areas of the project site as necessary

    Other Requirements:

  • Prompt and regular attendance

  • Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office preferred

  • Ability to communicate with internal and external customers

  • Ability to learn to read, analyze, and interpret requests for proposals

  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driver qualification policy
