AIG VP – Finance Operations Project Management Leader in Wilton, Connecticut

Reporting to AIG GOE Finance Business partner, the VP Finance Operations – Project Management Leader will be responsible for developing finance operations and reporting infrastructure working closely with global Treasury, FP&A, GOE and business functional teams to lead and drive setting up new Budget to Pay (B2P) spend, and related cash forecasting and reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities will include industry benchmarking and developing best in class next generation solutions for end-to-end visibility into $3B annual spend, cash, and GOE (General Operating Expenses) budgeting, spend approval and tracking vis-à-vis budgets, cash settlement and reporting at a vendor level.

The role requires strong business and finance acumen and project management skills. Role is responsible for conceptualizing process design to driving execution and delivery of final work product. This includes getting functional and leadership buy-ins working with external consultants, functional leaders, and senior leadership team to design and implement a centralized solution for the global B2P process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading key projects – from design to execution - across AIG to drive Finance Operations objectives. Cross functional collaboration with various Functional leads and Functional finance representatives, including consultants and GOE finance business partners. Lead development of strategy, finalize to-be process and system architecture framework, get leadership buy-in, communicate plan to stakeholders and end users, drive execution and lead senior management updates.

  • Ensure comprehensive end-to-end tracking of spend, GOE, and cash reporting and clear linkage of spend to financial statements presentation. Ensure clear communication of deliverables and timely execution. Proactively engage stakeholders to resolve potential conflicts or roadblocks and drive timely execution.

  • Analyse GOE, spend and cash flow impact and develop comprehensive framework to provide vendor level spend and financial forecasts to key stakeholders. Support Finance Operations leader and other senior management stakeholders with data requests, analysis and insights including spend actuals and variance to budget by vendor.

  • Provide framework, systems, and oversight for preparation of vendor level spend budgets and cash forecasts. Effectively drive process, analysis, and communication of results to key senior leadership stakeholders.

  • Design and Build of the B2P spend tool from data gathering to analysis and reporting capabilities. Build capabilities and global coverage to track and report real time via live dashboards.

  • Partner with Sourcing, Treasury, GOE, FP&A, Finance Operations, Financial Data and Systems management, and Technology team to capture the data, understand the processes and controls required to support daily reporting and visualization of the end-to-end spend and payment lifecycle, covering Budget to Procurement, Procurement to Contract, Contract to Invoice and Payables, Payable to Treasury / Disbursements (including alignment with Kyriba) across the regions globally.

  • Manage a team of consultants and AIG employees for timely and successful delivery of Finance Operations projects.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ year experience - Qualified Treasury and Finance professional with a proven track record in a Finance leadership role.

  • Experience in project management and working with senior C-Suite Executives supporting and driving enterprise initiatives. Treasury and Finance Experience preferred.

  • Strong analytical mindset, problem solving structuring and counselling / influencing senior leaders.

  • Demonstrated strong business and financial acumen as well as advanced change management and project management skills.

  • Demonstrated past success at creating or significantly upgrading the function and instilling a culture of continuous process improvement.

  • Highly influential and able to flex leadership style according to the situation.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation development and delivery.

  • Resilient and tenacious with a propensity to persevere.

  • Aptitude to multitask, handling multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Must be able to make decisions after considering alternatives.
