A Mechanical Drafting/CAD Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Wilmington, NC area. The role involves assisting a global drafting team in creating and revising 3D models and drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD for custom-designed process equipment, ensuring compliance with company standards and supporting engineering teams in the documentation process.

responsibilities:

• Support the drafting lead in completing engineering/development drawing sets prior to release into the system (Autodesk Vault).

• Correct redlined models/drawings as issued by drafting lead or engineering/development teams.

• Convert legacy hand-drawn and AutoCAD drawings into 3D models and associative drawings.

• Create 2D drawings from existing 3D models from other users.

• Collect data from engineering teams and incorporate information into appropriate drawings.

• Collect measurements/information from the production floor to incorporate into drawings.

Skills:

• Working knowledge of ASME/ANSI drafting standards.

• General Windows-based computer skills.

• Proficient in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault.

• Adaptability to company standards and guidelines.

• strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

• A.A.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology, A.O.S. in Drafting/CAD, or Drafting Certificate/Certification.

• Candidates without degrees must demonstrate proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting with at least 2 years of experience.

• Minimum of 2 years professional experience in mechanical drafting.
