CTG's premier client has a contract assignment for a Mechanical Drafting/CAD Technician I.

Type: Contract

Job Title: Mechanical Drafting/CAD Technician I

Location: Wilmington, NC

Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Wilmington, NC

Pay Rate: Based on experience

Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm

Education: A.A.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology, A.O.S. in Drafting/CAD, or equivalent certification preferred.

Summary:

As a member of a global drafting department, you will assist in creating, revising, and storing electronic drawing files using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD for custom-designed process equipment across various Corning Optical Fiber and Cable manufacturing locations. Your key responsibilities will include collaborating with the drafting lead to finalize engineering and development drawing sets for release into Autodesk Vault, with a focus on detail, sheet metal, weldment, and assembly drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Correct redlined models/drawings issued by the drafting lead or engineering teams.

  • Convert legacy hand-drawn and AutoCAD drawings into 3D models and associated drawings.

  • Create 2D drawings from existing 3D models provided by other users.

Work Environment:

  • Employment will be through a third party on a contract basis. Contracts will typically last 1 year and may be extended based on performance and project workload.

  • Hybrid work schedule available (work from home 3-4 days per week).

  • Base schedule of M-F, 8am-5pm; overtime may be required (target of 45 hours per week).

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • A.A.S. Mechanical Engineering Technology, A.O.S. Drafting/CAD, or Drafting Certification preferred. Candidates without degrees must demonstrate proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting.

Experience and Skills:

  • No prior experience required.

  • Awareness of ASME/ANSI drafting standards.

  • General proficiency with Windows-based computer applications.

  • Minimal experience with Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault is a plus.

  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

  • Ability to adapt to company standards and guidelines.
