The individual in this position acts as the initial point of contact for all capital requests & projects and the subject matter expert on the financial tracking of all capital projects, capital spending, and timely project completion. Works closely with the Manager to ensure procedural adherence & reporting accuracy while identifying inefficiencies and recommending process improvements. Individuals would also work closely with project management teams to ensure corporate compliance & provide field support to all locations & field installation teams. The person in this position would possess experience in general accounting or billing and have a solid drive to continuously improve processes in an ongoing effort to manage capital spent & project completions. In addition, the person in this position will be involved in utility bills, environmental & fleet billing management, new team members' onboarding & training, and direct report performance reviews.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct, coordinate, and monitor the daily activities of 4 direct reports.

  • Audit, evaluate, and assess processes & practices across all work streams. Organize work and work processes. Conducting performance annual performance appraisals and recommending merit increases in conjunction with the manager and consistent with policy.

  • Ensuring all personnel are adequately trained in UniFirst policies and procedures, including follow-up training, compliance training, and consultations. Continual training and cross-training staff regularly.

  • Organizing and maintaining the department's daily support operations; preparing, verifying, and monitoring payroll; and maintaining related records. Organizing team events and maintaining a harmonious work environment.

  • Willingness and ability to take proactive measures to improve reporting & compliance.

  • Conduct monthly one-on-one direct report meetings to engage the team and encourage growth potential.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction in the field and within the team by providing positive and effective customer service and recommending and implementing service improvements.

  • Participate in the annual budget process by supporting the manager in preparing reports and handling other related documentation.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Finance / Accounting / or related business field

  • 1+ years’ supervisory experience is desirable.

  • Experience with ERP software, including Oracle PPM, is desirable.

  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and negotiation skills

  • Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to manage internal and external relationships

  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to multi-task

  • Experience in financial and business controls is preferred.

  • Self-starter, dependable, and able to work independently as well as a member of a team.
