PRIMARY FUNCTION:

\ Performs routine garbage and refuse task collection duties; works snow detail as needed and determined by management.

\ Work is usually performed under the direct supervision of the Assistant Sanitation Supervisor who issues general orders on routine jobs and specific instructions when departures are made from established procedures.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

\ Performs difficult and heavy manual labor in connection with general sanitation duties, i.e., picking up garbage and refuse and loading it into the truck. Operates compactor or packer-type refuse trucks, which collect garbage, rubbish, and refuse. Installs and removes skid chains as needed. Operation of snow removal equipment as needed.

\ Chucking will be required on an as-needed basis to meet operational needs.

\ Work occasionally requires the performance of tasks requiring the use of hand tools.

\ Possess and maintain a valid \"CDL\" Class B driver\'s license with an active medical examiners certificate, a good driving record, and ability to pass drug screening mandated by Federal Department of Transportation for CDL drivers.

\ Performs all related work as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

\ Regularly work near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.

\ Frequently works in places highly precarious and is exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

\ Regularly required to reach with hands and arms. Frequently is required to stand, walk, and use hands, operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear.
