KACS is seeking a passionate Health/PE Teacher to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will engage students in a variety of activities that promote physical fitness, healthy lifestyle choices, teamwork, and sportsmanship while ensuring adherence to state standards. Responsibilities of Kuumba Academy Teachers Include but Are Not Limited to:

Academic Achievement and Character Development

• Create a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured learning environment
• Motivate students to achieve high academic and behavioral standards
• Invest students and families in the development of academic success and Kuumba Core values
• Develop and deliver innovative and engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and incorporate best practices in health and physical education
• Assess student progress through formal and informal methods
• Support students in developing life-long skills that promote healthy, active lifestyles.
• Collaborate with fellow educators, parents, and the community to create a holistic approach to health and fitness education
• Teachers will be evaluated using DTGSS

Professional Growth and Development

• Stay current with trends in health and physical education
• Participate enthusiastically in all professional development, team planning, and data analysis meetings
• Function as a school-wide partner in helping to raise student achievement and character for all students in the school reinforcing school-wide expectations and volunteering to take on additional activities as needed to improve school culture

Skills and Characteristics

• Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
• High level of personal organization and planning.
