Jacobs Civil and Environmental Engineering Intern - Summer 2025 in Wilmington, Delaware

We’re seeking a Civil and Environmental Engineering Intern in Wilmington, DE with interest in wastewater engineering to support the delivery of projects at the City of Wilmington’s 320-MGD Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), combined sewer overflow facilities, and Renewable Energy Biosolids Facility.

Working alongside the Operations, Maintenance, and Facility Services (OMFS) team, your work could include:

  • Assisting technical staff in various projects related to the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the wastewater treatment plant and associated facilities

  • Participating in design projects and programs assigned by the Engineering Manager, including unit process troubleshooting and pilot studies

  • Using analytical skills to evaluate problems, gather and analyze data for use by other technical staff

  • Participating in technical meetings with O&M and engineering design staff as it relates to job duties or assigned projects

  • Spending time shadowing various other fields within the plant and at other projects within Jacobs as it aligns with your interests

  • Managing databases and preparing draft reports as instructed by Staff Engineers

  • Conducting fieldwork under the direct supervision of a manager in a safe manner

  • Enrollment in a degree-seeking program in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or another closely related field.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Previous intern experience with a consulting or engineering firm

  • Relevant coursework or projects

  • EIT or on track to obtain
