BlackRock Associate – Transfer Agency Services (U.S. CEF)

This Associate role is based in our Wilmington, Delaware location. The successful candidate will be part of a team, supporting our U.S. Closed-End mutual funds (“CEF”), supervising the operations of the funds external transfer agent (“TA”) service partner along with the management and support of the shareholder proxy process across our registered fund product ranges.

This role is multi-functional and includes responsibility for collaborating with various teams across BlackRock, supporting the full life cycle of our U.S. Closed-End funds including monitoring of the fund sponsored shareholder investment programs. In addition, this role will work closely with our Closed-End Fund transfer agent service partner to ensure a consistent, repeatable high level of service is being maintained.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating across the firm to support the daily operations of our closed-end suite of funds, including launches, terminations and other fund actions, such as mergers, tenders, splits etc. while ensuring the TA agent vendor actions are being communicated and implemented accurately.

  • Investigating and resolving daily operational queries, issues and incidents relating to the transfer agent functions.

  • Draft and maintain written internal operational procedure documents to support the funds.

  • Review CEF periodic prospectuses and annual financial reports to ensure accuracy of TA sourced data and provide data and direction on operational and TA related information.

  • Compile, prepare and review of reporting needed to satisfy various regulatory requirements, internal inquiries and Board reporting.

  • Assist with fund operational audits both external and internal, as needed. Be a central point of contact for transfer agent related issues, questions or concerns.

  • Coordinate and be responsible for shareholder proxy campaigns along with engagement and management of the external service vendors involved.

  • CEF vendor invoice review, approval and submission processing.

  • Grow and thrive into a Closed-End fund TA operations subject matter expert.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years, mutual fund operations experience with knowledge of transfer agency operations (exchange traded product experience is a plus).

  • Excellent organizational, communication, critical thinking and writing skills.

  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to identify problems and develop solutions.

  • Acute attention to detail, understanding of downstream and upstream processes with the ability to work independently.

  • Vendor relationship experience is a plus.

  • Demonstrate an affinity for partnership and collaboration.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point)
