Description
D ictate the pace and flow of the daily operations by effectively communicating with other shifts and departments, resulting in improved Safety, Quality, Productivity and Customer Service. Utilize knowledge base to train others in cross-section selection, quench selection, tempering temperature and product flow to ensure timely delivery to customers and product of the highest quality standards. Help with communication, training, expectations and housekeeping.
Key Responsibilities:
Properly understand and be able to train on setup of loads for processing, while following detailed and specific work instructions. This includes T/C placement, part orientation, determination of cross sections and tempering temperatures, and lot control.
Know how to operate all industrial heat-treating equipment and customer product, including but not limited to, loading of product, placing of thermocouples, answering alarms and verifying the cycle is processing per PICS / the shop order.
Responsible for performing training for other members of the vacuum department.
Responsible for ensuring orders are on track to be completed by their PRTSDs and communicating when orders will not be on time.
Proactively work with the S&R department to get orders and parts prepared for shipment.
Express the importance of attention to detail and the need to follow shop orders. Requirements on jobs and processes can vary significantly.
Review furnace cycles and charts frequently throughout the shift to ensure conformance to customer or industry specifications.
Notify the Shift Supervisor and/or Area Manager of anomalies during the day-to-day operations, including equipment and/or maintenance related problems, such as those found during equipment inspections.
Assist with ensuring that the proper furnace cycles are run, and parts are running to correct the process(es).
Ensure that proper checklists are completed including furnace inspections and equipment monitoring sheets.
Assist with planning the daily production for Team Members, Operators, Shipping and the Laboratory to work from, allowing them to be productive and effective in meeting our customers needs.
Ensure ID and traceability is maintained upon receipt, through processing, and when packing parts away.
Understand and follow all PICS processes, quality procedures and work instructions.
Have proficiency in utilizing PICS applications such as ShopLog, Suspect Capture, Spec Viewer and BackLog.
Identify process improvements to implement on Shop Order processes.
Perform tasks, as required, to assist and support in other departments, such as but not limited to: shipping, receiving, Batch Department and the laboratory.
Maintain high standards for Safety, Quality, Service, Productivity, and integrity.
Responsible for organization and housekeeping of vacuum department.
Advocate for safe behavior among all personnel
Prepare and participate in shift turnover meetings ensuring that plans are formed to meet goals and objectives.
Qualifications
Knowledge:
Requires a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
Knowledge of basic math and mechanical principles.
Logical thinking process and organizational skills.
Professional manner when interacting with peers, superiors, vendors and customers.
Prior experience in a similar or related position is preferred.
Knowledge of computers and PLCs is preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required:
Must be able to obtain a forklift certification.
