Windham Public School District Maintenance HVAC Technician in Willimantic, Connecticut

**[PRIMARY FUNCTION:[ Responsible for all maintenance, preventive maintenance and repairs of all types of HVAC mechanical systems and equipment in all district facilities buildings.

- - Receive work order from supervisor/work order system of repair request. - Trouble shoot and repair the following equipment/devices: air handling systems, duct work, thermostat control, pneumatic controls, and automated Building Systems (DDC) for all schools; steam and hot and cold water piping, valves, controls, etc.; boiler and burner controls and repairs; chillers, chilled pumps, piping and controls; hot water pumps and controls; air compressors, air piping, refrigeration, dryers, etc. any other mechanical systems and control as may be required. - Record and maintain log of repairs performed, condition of area, and/or action taken. - Perform other related general maintenance duties as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: ]{arial",sans-serif"=""}

High School or vocational school diploma or GED equivalency.

Must possess and maintain one or more of the following licenses as issued by the State of Connecticut, S-2, D-1 or D-2 or P2.

Knowledge and skill in the use of all BMS systems

Must possess a minimum of five (5) years of mechanical and/or structural building maintenance.

Must possess two (2) years of construction experience within a large plant.

Ability to read and understand blueprints and the ability to perform in the trade from sketches and blueprints.

Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with principals, custodians

and others

Ability to describe/report orally or in writing maintenance or repair problems as needed to supervisor, contractors or to any other district staff.

Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety protection of the trade together with the specific requirements imposed upon workmen in the performance of work by the Occupational Safety and Health Act.

Knowledge and skill in the use of all power and hand tools commonly employed in the performance of the trade.

Ability to layout work, plan the execution of work, and to estimate time and materials.
