The AmeriCorps VISTA will focus on methods of transforming former mountaintop land into thriving economic development sites. They will identify and assess potential sites, research best practices for repurposing reclaimed land, and collaborate with local stakeholders to develop strategic plans for site and market readiness. The VISTA will assist in securing funding through grant writing and partnerships, creating a formal plan to attract industries and businesses. By leveraging the regions natural and reclaimed resources, they will play a key role in fostering sustainable growth and diversifying the local economy, helping the community transition from coal dependency to new opportunities.
