Program Support Specialist - Ready and Resilient Families and Communities
Status:
Temporary, Full Time (30-hour/week) Grant Funded Position (Ends September 2026)
Scope:
The Program Support Specialist will work with the Partnership Engagement and Resilient Columbus program coordinators with Columbus County Partnership for Children (CCPC) and families with young children in Columbus County to implement the Ready and Resilient Families and Communities Project.
The Program Support Specialist will work with the coordinators to develop and strengthen key relationships in the local community; coordinate and plan training opportunities at various locations within communities; work in collaboration with a Regional Resiliency Workgroup Consultant who will facilitate collaboration, training and support the resiliency efforts of the tri-county region of Columbus, Bladen and Robeson counties.
This role will support the implementation of child abuse prevention strategies utilizing the Strengthening Families model. The goal of this project is to lead community work to foster safe, stable, nurturing communities and families to better support local and regional prevention efforts.
This position will assist in the coordination of activities and training sessions to develop interventions and strategies to support a solid continuum of services that address Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Resiliency in Columbus County. This position may require candidate to work late evening hours and some weekends based on initiative activities.
Location:
This position will be located at the Columbus County Partnership for Children, 109 W. Main St. in Whiteville, NC. Field work my require staff to travel to other communities targeted in the KBR regional grant work.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with local service providers and CCPC to assess where there are challenges and deepen the culture of family engagement in Columbus County.
- Utilize the Strengthening Families model to facilitate awareness and education around child abuse prevention, Adverse Childhood Experiences and Resiliency

Recruit families to participate in Ready and Resilient Families and Communities

Stay familiar with community resources for families with young children and makes appropriate referrals.
Use existing community collaborations to enhance ongoing relationships between the Partnership and agencies that provide services to children and families.
Encourage parents to become involved in planning and decision making at the local level.
Maintain detailed documentation, data collection and analysis.

Participate in and help with Partnership outreach events in Columbus County.

Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Two (2) years of experience working with young children and their families.
Knowledge of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Community Resilience preferred
Strong relationship-building, group facilitation and community development skills required.
Demonstrates teamwork skills.
Demonstrates organizational skills and the ability to prioritize.
Strong written and verbal skills in communicating with diverse populations; communicates effectively in all settings.
Possesses ability to write reports, press releases, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Proficient in basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, and Power Point.
Operates an automobile and has a current valid NC driver's license.
Desired Education and Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree preferred in education, social work, communications or related field
