Summary

The Reporting & Analytics Manager will support the Controllers' team with various external and internal reporting, and prepare quality quantitative and qualitative analysis for senior leadership.

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in Reporting and Analytics to measure, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators. This role will ensure compliance with New York State Public Authority’s Law and other accounting rules and regulations including US GAAP, GASB, FASB and FERC, and Controls compliance requirements.

The Manager will have a background in Accounting and Reporting, along with demonstrated experience with financial data analysis, using tools Excel, PowerBI, SQL and SAP.

Financial analysis includes producing and analyzing income statements, cash flows, various financial metrics, and scenarios. The Manager will assist in preparation of presentation materials for executive management and the Trustees, telling the financial “story” of the organization such that high-level, actionable information is communicated. This work supports robust financial and operational decision-making through expert advice and training on financial acumen, modeling, and best practices.

These activities will help identify and support the development of business solutions that allow NYPA to maintain its competitive margin and financial integrity in the evolving electric utility marketplace.

Responsibilities

  • Develop baseline and advanced reporting to accurately reflect business results. Identify opportunities for reporting optimization based on data analytics.

  • Work with internal and external teams to continuously refine and optimize reporting platforms, templates, and requirements.

  • Performs data analytics in support of trend identification, program development, and validation through collaboration with other teams/departments.

  • Monitor and maintain data quality and integrity.

  • Design effective and impactful reports and visualizations tools for business.

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of reporting across financial systems; analyze and resolve reconciling items, as required.

  • Advance and improve workstreams within Financial Reporting with a focus on automation and efficiency. Work with Technology to identify, design and implement process and system improvements.

  • Stay abreast of changes in reporting requirements and reflect most updated policies in financial reports.

  • Lead projects and assignments with minimal oversight.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness with proven ability in managing multiple deliverable timelines concurrently.

  • Strong business acumen, including broad exposure to business operations and an understanding of how to impact business operations.

  • Self-motivated/ energetic individual with aptitude for progression.

  • Expert knowledge of excel (v-lookup, pivot tables).

  • Basic understanding of database structures.

  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build working relationships across cross functional teams

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.

  • Minimum 8 years of finance and accounting experience.

  • MBA preferred.

  • Excellent skills with at least one business intelligence or data visualization software tool such as Power BI, Tableau & SAP preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the electric utility sector preferred.

Physical Requirements

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The estimated salary range for this position is: $127,200.00 - $174,900.00. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
