Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Geotechnical/Environmental Engineering Intern to join an established and growing national engineering design and construction team of multi-disciplinary professionals. You will provide technical support for projects across the United States (US), Canada, and globally as needed. The preferred locations are Syracuse, NY; White Plains, NY; Clifton Park, NY; or Arlington, VA with potential for other focused Arcadis offices.

In this position, you will provide geotechnical engineering expertise on a variety of projects. Project work may include environmental remediation, mine reclamation, coal ash, sediment remediation, waterfront structures, or in situ solidification and stabilization depending on qualifications. Work will entail a mixture of subsurface investigation, feasibility studies, design, construction quality assurance, and construction drawings. This is a great opportunity for an intern to join a team of diverse group of geotechnical engineers while working on large and complex projects across the US and around the world.

As part of our Resilience Environment team, you'll help improve quality of life. You will work alongside Professional Engineers, Senior Scientists, Project/Program Managers, and Technical Experts on various activities in support of diverse environmental assessment and remediation projects.

Role accountabilities:

This is a great opportunity for exposure to a wide variety of environmental remediation and restoration projects within the consulting environment, with a focus on remediation projects and environmental compliance. This position requires a broad educational background with an emphasis on science and engineering principles and fundamentals.

What you will do:

  • May work on multiple, unique assignments simultaneously and candidates should possess strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Office work may include task coordination, data compilation and interpretation, quality assurance/quality control reviews, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file review, proposal support, project strategy development, scheduling and cost estimate preparation.
  • Geotechnical data evaluation and calculation
  • Preparing cost estimates and proposals
  • Conducting project-related research (historical data, regulations, permitting, etc.)

The ideal candidate is highly organized and detail-oriented and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong Microsoft Office skills are also required and additional skills in AutoCAD, GIS, and programming are preferred.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Pursuing a BS in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, GIS, programming skills
  • Educational focus on geotechnical/geological engineering

Arcadis offers benefits for part-time, as needed positions. These benefits include EAP, 401K, and optional wellbeing benefits. The salary range for this position is $15.00- $28.80/ hour.
