Assistant Nurse Manager - Occupational Health

As an Assistant Nurse Manager, you will monitor the daily clinical operations of Occupational Health, oversee RNs, LPNs, MAs and other patient care providers, and provide professional nursing care to patients. Occupational Health provides professional nursing care to Cleveland Clinic caregivers and Cleveland Clinic AtWork patient populations.

A caregiver in this position works 7:30am - 4:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Oversee nursing personnel and patient care providers in the clinical setting.

  • Coordinate activities to ensure quality and safe patient care.

  • Anticipate and resolve patient care and personnel issues.

  • In conjunction with the clinical manager, ensure maintenance of annual staff competencies and continuing education.

  • Perform duties of an Occupational Health RN as needed.

  • Participate and/or coordinate committees, task forces, and continuous improvement activities.

  • Participate in department leadership meetings.

  • Oversee daily huddles and staff meetings with minutes and attendance records.

  • Assume responsibilities of the clinical manager as needed.

  • Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and Occupational Health specific competencies and requirements.

  • Maintain applicable certification/licensure.

  • Participate in hiring and onboarding caregivers, annual performance reviews and performance improvement.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required .

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

  • Two years of recent RN experience required .

  • Ability to work in a variety of medical situations.

  • Focused on patient safety, teamwork, patient outcomes, patient experience and quality improvement.

  • Leadership, communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, decision-making and conflict resolution skills.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred.

  • Nursing certification in specialty area in occupational health, mental health/chemical dependency, public health, infection prevention or related health field.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.

  • May require some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

  • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
