Job Summary MTech Mechanical is a leading mechanical/plumbing design/build contractor in Colorado. A majority of our projects are negotiated in a design build/assist arrangement. Projects are very technical, and market sectors include multi-unit residential, resorts, laboratories, cleanrooms, process systems, office buildings, healthcare, and data centers. MTech is seeking a Plumbing Design Engineer with career aspirations and both technical and demonstrated leadership skills. The engineering position focuses on managing the design process to produce plumbing construction documents with some work in the mechanical area as well. This person will work as a support function to all departments within MTech Mechanical.

Essential Job Functions Prepare construction documents for plumbing in-house design/build projects; including Conceptual Design; Schematic Design; Design Development and the Construction Documentation phases of a project, in collaboration with MTech's PreConstruction and CAD Operations teams. Assist the PreConstruction team with project pursuits, in the form of conceptual designs, one-line diagrams, preliminary system and equipment selection, energy and water use analysis, code reviews, and support for and attendance at project interviews. Perform checks of all work issued to ensure a high-quality product at each phase of the project. Coordinate with other trades as a lead role on the project team; architects, general contractors, and other design disciplines; and the ability to work collaboratively and present solutions. Evaluate design parameters and system solutions for projects that respond to both the technical and budget requirements of the project. Prepare plumbing calculations; plumbing system sizing and equipment selections, and provide and maintain a working knowledge of national codes, local codes, and reference standards. Involvement in all facets of a project, from conceptual design, design engineering, LEED analysis and documentation, construction observation, trouble-shooting, commissioning support, to project close-out. Establish and manage budgets with Project Managers and PreConstruction teams in house. Conduct building surveys to ascertain the installed condition as required for the design and construction of new work in existing buildings. Interface with other departments to provide technical expertise in a support role. Act as a technical leader for other engineers and designers within the department. Regular and predictable attendance is expected in order to meet the requirements of this position. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Minimum of 8-14 years of plumbing design experience required with skills on mechanical/plumbing design/build projects. Relevant plumbing field installation experience may count towards this qualification. Four year degree from an accredited College or University is required. Certification in Plumbing Design (ASPE CPD) strongly desired or Professional Engineering license. Proficient knowledge of the International Plumbing Code, International Fuel Gas Code, City of Denver Amendments, and applicable local jurisdictional and water authority requirements. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and Bluebeam. Strong proficiency in Windows operating environment, including email and Microsoft Office software. Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills. Ability to effectively communicate with peopl at different levels within the organization. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment or independently, flexibility to adapt to changing needs/situations.
