The role is eligible to work a few days from home.

The FSW engineer role is a critical technical program role that is accountable for understanding the key and driving needs of the mission across all hardware and software domains.

Responsibilities: Develop and apply core systems engineering principles to mission development with the intent to actively improve mission operations, ensure full traceability through mission and systems and conops requirements (including derived requirements), and connect test strategy and execution to mission and systems requirements. Day-to-day tasks include making technical decisions, leading teams through full lifecycle of solutions, supporting product and mission strategies, and overseeing all system integration and dependencies. Demonstrated ability to lead rapid prototyping, analyze alternatives, perform design analysis. Partners closely with engineering management to decompose mission functionality, operational scenarios and oversee elegant design, analysis & test solutions. Design, develop, validate, document, and deliver cost-effective embedded determination & controls software which meets product, customer, and mission requirements. Strong system engineering experience, with experience delivering elegant, user-friendly implementations. Accountable for flight control requirements sell off to stakeholders and customers, and demonstration of integration readiness at various program milestones, (design reviews etc.). Develop mission capability, build business cases, support CTO, strategy, & executive sponsors as directed. Generate appropriate engineering artifacts (e.g. Design Review presentations, Interface Control Documents, etc.) at the appropriate level for consumption by either stakeholders and/or Development team members, for the long term growth of the Product. Engage actively in all program risk management activities Lead and contribute to senior level engineering reviews as needed. Strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to successfully bring together diverse teams made up of multiple engineering and business disciplines Create and drive a culture of teamwork, ownership, transparency, accountability, & crisp execution to goals. Lead and coach matrixed, cross functional teams of subject matter experts, engineers, and emerging leaders. Guide the existing and any new processes necessary to hit business objectives while streamlining and/or eliminating non-critical work. Work collaboratively with the other senior engineering leaders to transform engineering development process to enable efficient development of large-scale complex systems. In support of Program and engineering management, provide technical direction to Systems and Software Engineering teams to identify high potential engineers and develop a talent growth strategy within the technical team. Partner with Maxar Space product and mission architecture teams to ensure direct linkage to product and technical strategies. Travel as necessary to ensure team cohesion and Program and Product success. Position may include other duties as required. Generate business and technical documentation as required. Willingness to travel as required.
