A Typical Day
The Exam Process Manager plays a critical role in ensuring Pennymac's successful navigation of various regulatory examinations. This position is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of key examinations, including those conducted by government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) like Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Ginnie Mae, as well as agency and investor exams (FHA, VA, and USDA). This role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage all stages of the exam process.
The Exam Process Manager will:
Lead and manage the end-to-end process for Fannie Mae (MORA/STAR), Freddie Mac (CORE), Ginnie Mae, HUD, FHA, VA, and USDA origination and servicing examinations
Facilitate exams conducted by non-agency investors, warehouse lenders, and rating agencies. Coordinate and support subservicer client exams
Provide support and assistance during regulatory exams, such as those conducted by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and state regulators
Collaborate with various internal stakeholders to gather necessary documentation and information
Develop and maintain comprehensive exam preparation plans and timelines
Ensure timely and accurate responses to examiner requests and track and monitor exam findings and remediation efforts to completion
Develop and implement best practices for exam preparation and execution
Contribute to the development and maintenance of exam-related policies and procedures
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with examiners, internal business units, and senior management
Effectively communicate exam requirements and expectations to stakeholders
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field
5+ years experience in managing and facilitating regulatory examinations, particularly in the mortgage industry or financial services
Strong knowledge of GSE (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac) and government agency (FHA, VA, USDA) guidelines and regulations
Familiarity with mortgage loan file documentation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of management and external parties
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with CFPB regulations and examination procedures. Experience with process improvement methodologies
Experience writing policies and procedures is highly desirable.

Compensation: Individual salary may vary based on multiple factors including specific role, geographic location / market data, and skills and experience as defined below:
Lower in range - Building skills and experience in the role
Mid-range - Experience and skills align with proficiency in the role
Higher in range - Experience and skills add value above typical requirements of the role
Some roles may be eligible for performance-based compensation and/or stock-based incentives awarded to employees based on company and individual performance.
