Job Summary:

A CNA Trainee provides non-direct resident/patient services. This position is designed to provide experience that leads to a facility-sponsored CNA program. The CNA training program will consist of classroom instruction, clinical practices, and on-the-job supervised training, leading to the acquisition of the knowledge, skills, and certification required to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Replenishes unit supplies as directed.

  • Makes up unoccupied beds.

  • Transports residents to/from dining rooms, therapies, and activities.

  • Accompanies residents to appointments (no hands-on tasks).

  • Assists with meal tray pass.

  • Cleans utility and nourishment rooms.

  • Passes water to residents.

  • Maintains the resident’s room, bath, and personal belongings, including laundry/closet, in a clean and orderly condition.

  • Reports to the Charge Nurse at the beginning and end of each shift, and when leaving the unit for any reason.

  • Reports any changes in a resident’s condition or behavior to the nurse.

  • Respects the resident’s dignity, confidentiality, and individuality.

  • Attends in-service training, including all mandatory sessions required by New York State or facility policies.

  • Performs any additional unit tasks as requested by the nurse.

  • Adheres to assigned meal and break times.

  • Follows facility policies and procedures.

  • Follows Universal Precautions and infection control practices.

  • Maintains corporate compliance standards.

  • Performs any additional unit tasks as requested by the supervisor.

    Requirements:

  • Minimum 18 years of age; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Able to perform tasks while upholding high standards of quality, cleanliness, and kindness.

  • Physical endurance for frequent activity; ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
