Data Tester (SQL/Jira/Cognos) Hybrid T-TH

Duration: 6 - 12 months

Hybrid: On Site Tuesday-Thursday

Qualifications:

• Understand fundamental concepts of data warehousing and data marts and its place in an information management environment

• Understanding of data structures and the ability to read and understand a Data Model

• Understand how the testing process fits into the data development process

• Ability to develop data test strategies, solutions, test plans and test cases — what they are and how to develop them, specifically for data warehouses and decision support systems.

• Create effective test cases and scenarios based on business and user requirements.

• Participate in reviews of requirements, data models, data mapping documents, ETL design and ETL coding; providing feedback to product owners, designers and developers.

• Understand relational database concepts

• Intermediate to Advanced SQL

• Understand source to target mapping documents.

• Demonstrated working knowledge or experience of Cognos tools (Analysis Studio, Query Studio and Standard Reporting)

• Understand Agile methodologies

• Demonstrated growth mindset

Day to Day:

Data is a critical asset and part of Westfield’s strategic plan, and our data testers support that by verifying that data properly ingests according to the defined schema and there is no data corruption.

Testers validate the correctness of data by comparing source and target data. Including direct moves or data transformations. This includes data warehouses, data marts and online data stores across multiple test and production environments. Testers expose issues with data inconsistency, data quality, data security, Extract, Transform & Load process, performance, and end user experience. This includes validating the loading of all required rows, correct execution of all transformations and data quality. The team also validates stored procedures or queries that produce aggregate or summary tables. Data testing is performed by writing SQL to validate correctness of data from source to target by consumption of requirements and source to target mappings. Testers validate end user UI either via Cognos, Tableau or other reporting or dashboarding tools, including Excel. Finally, testers also validate non-functional requirements, including performance and security access.
