Mars, Incorporated Senior Controls Technician- Rotating Shift in Westerville, Ohio

Job Description: Senior Controls Technician Columbus, Ohio- KKC Rotating Shift- Candidates must be able to work a rotating shift. Shift rotates between 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts. Additional shift rotation details will be provided in the interview process ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Works on rotating shift basis as an integral part of a specific rotating team Supports operational team with day to day improvement and troubleshooting of software applications and PLC controls with maximum focus on increased reliability Electrical and controls support for operations and maintenance Perform predictive and preventive maintenance Interpret and maintain electrical schematics Implement small scope projects in assigned areas Identify, design and implement controls improvement solutions Interface with contractors, vendors, engineering, maintenance and operations Perform root cause analysis on process interruptions Work with engineering on specific electrical and or controls projects from design to startup, including HMI and PLC programming, installation, checkout, start-up and training Provide on shift - plant wide support (including overtime coverage for vacancies) for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolution of Level I (PLC/Servos) and Level II (HMI) system related problems QUALIFICATIONS Education / Training: Must have High School Diploma Associate of Applied Science in electrical / electronic or related technical training preferred Industrial controls training / certification preferred Industrial Technical Experience: 5 years industrial maintenance experience desired 5 years industrial controls experience desired Preferred Software Systems Experience: MSSQL Databases PLC Programming HMI software Computer operating systems Virtual PC environments Batching process control systems Hardware Systems Experience:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, install, and upgrade the following:
  • Plant Controls Ethernet Network
  • Plant Controls PLC Networks
  • Computer Hardware
  • Programmable Logic Controllers
  • Various other controls devices (Servos, VFDs, instrumentation, etc.)
  • Motors, motor control circuits, power distribution systems up to 600 VAC

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational skills and self-directed capability Demonstrated capability in the following controls systems Electricity & motor controls including:

  • Variable Frequency Drives
  • Servo Axis Motion Controllers/Drives
  • Soft Motor Starters
  • Mechanical Motor Starters
  • Motor control centers
  • Hard wired electrical circuit troubleshooting
  • Controls & instrumentation including
  • Digital/Analog control and monitoring
  • Solid state relays and switches
  • Equipment & system controls design including
  • Large Process controls systems
  • Machine level control systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft and Linux Server & Desktop Operating Systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge in configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of industrial networks including Ethernet routers, switches, and cabling
