The Opportunity

This position works out of our Westbrook, Maine location in the ID Rapid Diagnostics Division. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments and informatics systems are often the first step in patient care decision making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers.

As the Facilities Technician I , under general supervision, responsible for the reliable operation of the organization’s buildings, facilities, machinery, and equipment. You will perform routine repairs and maintenance on facilities equipment, including, but not limited to, work involving the execution of more than one of the typical maintenance trades: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and repair and installation.

What You’ll Work On

  • Makes repairs to building structure, fixtures, and furniture.

  • Renovation of facilities, including walls, doors windows, flooring, etc.

  • Assists in packing, moving, and reconfiguring the facility, including office and manufacturing areas.

  • Escorts and assists, as necessary, outside repair persons in the performance of their contractual obligations.

  • Maintains appropriate records, keeps inventory of spare parts and materials, and provides supervisor with the information necessary to secure needed replacement parts or special materials needed for upkeep and maintenance of the facility.

  • May responds to alarm or trouble calls as required as a primary or secondary responder.

  • Activities include conducting scheduled maintenance, diagnosing, and troubleshooting faults and undertaking repairs, and selecting, engaging, and working with outside contractors.

  • Performs routine maintenance and repair services of facility systems such as mechanical, electrical, and building systems.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics.

  • Knowledge of methods, practices, and techniques of maintaining building and facilities.

Shift Schedule: These are 12-hour shift from 5:30 pm – 6:00 am and every other weekend.

Example: 1st Week Schedule: Tues/Wed on, Thurs/Friday off, Sat/Sun/Mon on

2nd Week Schedule: Tues/Wed off, Thurs/Friday on, Sat/Sun/Mon off

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior Carpentry experience is a plus.

  • Prior experience in a facilities role also a plus.

  • Troubleshooting experience

  • Ability to prioritize problems and projects effectively ensuring that operation, appearance, and upkeep of the facility are maintained at a high standard.

  • Ability to safely and effectively repair and upgrade facility as needed.

  • Ability to follow directions and project plans.

The base pay for this position is $19.60 – $39.20 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
