Eversource Energy Senior Supervisor, Field Training, Gas in Westborough, Massachusetts

1.Role and Scope of Position:

This position develops and conducts Field training programs to ensure the safe and effective performance of the Gas Operations, Maintenance & Construction/Meter Service employees.

This position is multi-faceted with responsibilities that include integrated planning and scheduling, execution of fieldwork activities, performance measurement, coaching, safety adherence, mentoring and various administration duties. Prepares and executes Maintenance & Construction/Meter Service activities along with coordination and schedules. Supervises and develops multi-skilled workers engaged in the execution of processes to maintain and provide customer service within the Eversource Gas Service territory.

Communicates with customers and community officials concerning all aspects of utility construction, operations, maintenance, and service delivery.

The Senior Supervisor will conduct training that includes both classroom and on-the-job training that will incorporate both conceptual and hands-on instructional methods. Responsibilities would also include participation in testing and evaluation of new tools, materials, and equipment, the ongoing revision and maintenance of standards and procedures, conducting of quality assurance audits and supervision evaluation and certification of field employees.

At the Senior Supervisor level, in addition to the above, responsibilities include:

•Direct supervision of Field Training personnel students

•Serving as the local technical lead or coach for other supervisors

•Developing and coaching other supervisors in various aspects of their role

•Authorizing re-allocation of resources in situations where conflicting priorities exist

•Driving innovation and change in business processes

•Leading area work center activities during manager absence

•Representing their manager at department, customer, and community meetings

Essential Functions:

  • Manages performance by reviewing and evaluating work of employees. Identifies, build consensus, and communicates performance measures and expected performance levels. Assesses and improves team and employee performance through coaching and on-the-job training.
  • Supervises, directs, and instructs trainees during classroom, hands-on and on-the-job training assignments.
  • Directs the work planning process including preparation and prioritization of work plans and schedules, resource and materials requirements and forecasts and coordination with other processes for optimal resource utilization.
  • Works with field personnel and supervisors to analyze job tasks and current field performance to determine training needs and program content.
  • Effectively implements training programs and field quality audit programs.

  • Evaluates performance during training and follows up on students learning through field visits, observations and refresher training.

  • Provides updates and incorporates new procedures and revisions into training programs and reviews work with vendors, technical experts, engineers, field personnel to provide operational input into the selection and operation on new equipment and development of new construction standards.
  • Ensures the safety of personnel by taking direct preventive measures, conducting effective weekly safety meetings and ensuring all related standards, rules and laws are understood and followed.
  • Ensures that work is performed in accordance with appropriate Company standards and work methods including monitoring for a high quality of workmanship and productivity.
  • Mange implantation tool/equipment and fleet vehicles.
  • Monitors current and future workload to ensure district plans and schedules maximize productivity, control costs and meet or exceeds service level agreements.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and Company work rules and procedures. Understands and complies with the labor contract and works to resolve initial grievances. Initiates appropriate disciplinary action when required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, related discipline or related experience

Experience :

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in Transmission, Distribution and/or Field Service design and/or installation, servicing customers and supervising employees.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Driver’s license DOT Preferred

Compensation and Benefits:

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $124560 to $138400 plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of our benefits.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing. A positive drug test will result in disciplinary action.
  • Work is conducted outside, in varied conditions and terrain including adverse weather conditions, and in a normal office environment.
