Description
The Controls Engineering Manager leads the development of advanced motion control systems that enable Amazon's packaging platforms to surprise and delight customers while optimizing for the internal supply chain.
The Controls Engineering Manager is responsible for providing technical leadership and management of the team designing and programming the motion control systems for Amazon's packaging machinery and automation. This includes overseeing the systems architecture, programming, and integration to meet project objectives.
Key job responsibilities
Manage and mentor a team of Controls Engineers
Lead the design and programming of the HMI, PLC, motion control, and other subsystems
Ensure complete and scalable project documentation
Oversee the safety certification process for projects/platforms
Participate in and facilitate cross-functional meetings to align on objectives
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
About the team
The Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging (MSP) team develops automated solutions and sustainable packaging across Amazon's operations, focusing on customer experience and waste reduction.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Automation, Controls, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
10+ years experience in advanced motion control platforms (HMI, PLC, Motion, Safety) integrated design and programing
5+ years experience with motion control software (Rockwell, Rexroth, Beckhoff, B&R, Siemens)
5+ years of people management experience
Preferred Qualifications
Safety certification experience (CE, UL, CSA, TUV)
10+ years Experience with integration of Nordson, Valco, Robatech or other industrial hotmelt application systems
Track record of leading successful teams and projects
Experience with integration of advanced visions systems (Keyence or similar), labeling and other ancillary device integration
Codesys programming experience
