The site is a scenic 30-minute drive south of Buffalo, New York. In cooperation with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, CHBWV continues to decontaminate and decommission facilities at this site. Apply on-line at chbwv.com & click on Careers JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF POSITION The internship program is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience, develop practical skills, enhance knowledge, and make meaningful contributions to projects. Intern assignments will be determined based on business need and role availability with consideration to skills and development goals. The Engineering Intern will gain knowledge and experience in the development and planning of Site infrastructure support systems to include mechanical, structural, and electrical systems during transition. SPECIFIC PROJECTS/RESPONSIBILITES 1. Assist in the evaluation and development of a Mechanical infrastructure plan exiting contract transition. 2. Assist in the evaluation and development of an Electrical infrastructure plan exiting contract transition. 3. Other Engineering projects/responsibilities can be aligned with interns areas of interest pending project availability. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience: Pursuing a BA/BS in engineering, science, construction management, computer sciences, or other technically related fields of study. o Preference for Mechanical, Structural, or Electrical Engineering. Must be at least a rising Junior. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, ACad, and PowerPoint. Other Requirements: Ability to intern for 10 weeks typically between May and August. Enthusiasm for learning and adapting to new challenges. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/SCOPE OF WORK Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following established safe work practices and procedures; including following all safety rules, use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE), investigating and reporting identified safety concerns or situations. Prepare a Final Presentation for Staff Managers at the end of the internship depicting internship experience and accomplished projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft suite. Ability to effectively manage, organize, and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment. Perform tasks under general supervision for most assignments.
